Certified Biosolids Qualified Assurance Scheme (BAS)
'nutri-bio' was the first company to go through and be certified under the Biosolids Assurance Scheme (BAS). BAS is owned and operated by Assured Biosolids Limited, which is a not-for-profit company set up by the 11 UK mainland Water and Sewerage Companies.
NSF Certification UK Limited has been appointed as the Certification Body to provide an annual audit service to scheme members. Whilst the scheme has been developed by the Water Industry any organisation that recycles biosolids to agriculture may apply for certification.
The scheme operates through a levy paid on entrance in to the scheme by members based on quantities of biosolids recycled to agricultural land. The result of certification of all activities (from sludge treatment to biosolids application to land) should result in Biosolids Assurance Scheme Certified Biosolids.
Assured Biosolids Limited is managed by a board of directors appointed from the 11 UK mainland Water and Sewerage Companies. The day to day administration of Assured Biosolids Limited and the Biosolids Assurance Scheme is provided by Grieve Strategic Limited.
